The Court of Appeal in Freetown gives total vindication to Dr. Richard Konteh on the ongoing COI.
You will remember back in 2018 that, the SLPP New Direction Government instituted a Commission of Inquiry (COI) to inquire into and examine the assets and other related matters in respect of all the APC Party members who were President, Vice President, Ministers of State and Deputy Ministers; and Heads and Chairmen of Boards of Parastatals, Departments and Agencies within the period from November 2007 to April 2018.
In March 2020, the Hon. Sir Justice Biobele Abraham Georgewill, JCA, DSSRS, KSC, Chairman and Sole Commissioner, issued a report of the investigations and indictments. Dr. Richard Konteh, Former Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Development from 2007 - 2008 and Former Minister of Trade and Industry from 2008 - 2013, was among the many investigated and indicted.
After a lengthy appeals court process, Today, February 9th, 2023, the Appeals Court in Freetown vindicated Dr. Richard Konteh and discharged him from all allegations.
It is worth remembering again that in 2022, the Sierra Leone Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) also vindicated Dr. Richard Konteh after a lengthy investigation over the Japanese Non-Project Grant Aid (JNPGA) donated by the Government of Japan in the form of Petroleum products to the Government of Sierra Leone worth approximately Eleven Million United States Dollars. Given the detailed investigation that the ACC carried out, the director of the Intelligence and Investigation Department, Evelyn Kuyateh, stated in a signed letter that "the Commission will take no further step and will proceed to close the investigation."
Dr. Richard Konteh has always maintained his innocence and assured his supporters that he had done no wrong or condoned any corrupt practice while serving his country as a Minister and later as Chief of Staff to the President between 2007 to 2014.
These back-to-back court of justice vindications are tangible testaments to Dr. Konteh's character, innocence, and stance for the truth. Many attempts have been made to assassinate his political career, but he always comes out clean, victorious, stronger and better.
For Dr. Konteh, the Holy Bible verse in Isaiah 54:17 is all so true,
"No weapon that is formed against you will prosper;
And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their vindication is from Me," declares the Lord.
Dr. Richard Konteh is aspiring for the leadership (Flag bearer) of the All Peoples Congress Party (APC). He has proven that he is a leader you can trust.
